ABOUT ME
It's that time of year again (late July-early August)! I'll be cycling from Paris to La Manche later this month and returning in August. I'd love to surf your couch!
I used to couch surf before the internet...now it's so....uh...organized! My family and I travel to France every year to see family. I take about four days to ride from Paris to La Manche where I rendezvous with my family and then I do it again to get back to Paris. This happens around late July to early August. In 2010 I discovered CouchSurfing.org and preferred Surfing to Camping in the Norman rain! Besides I made many wonderful friends along the way. I am a husband and father of two boys, and enjoy traveling by bicycle and making friends out of strangers.
PHILOSOPHY
enjoy the journey
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Most of the year one of our parents stay with us in the place we open to couch surfers. Typically from late February through early May, mid June through early October, & the last week of October. When they are here our little house gets crowded quick. On top of that I'm a much bigger fan of CS and open to hosting than my wife and so convincing her to welcome surfers is a challenge, not impossible, but more challenging when grandma or grandpa are already visiting. Don't let this dissuade you from requesting to stay, but be aware of these limitations. :-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been couch surfing since the 1980's. Back then it was common to meet people while on a bike tour and have them offer you a place to sleep. I road my bike across the western US this way, mostly camping with the occasional offer of shelter. The first time I road my bicycle to La Manche from Paris I stayed with Antonio Ferrari near Serquigny. His friends convinced him that he should put me up in his mother's room... little did i know.. his mother's ashes were still in her room. oh well, she didn't wake me up and i slept soundly!
