About Me

ABOUT ME

Ho there fellow surfer! May name's John.
I'm currently living the dream out in New Zealand. I will be flying out to Bangkok on August 20th and staying for a month. Right now I have only slight plans in place - I will be meeting a friend and traveling with him for about a week. Then I have three weeks to myself to explore and absorb Thailand. I hope to couchsurf for some of that time!
So a little about myself. I like having a good time. Who doesn't right? I like lighting matches, loud music and whiskey. I equally enjoy reading, cooking/baking, or sitting out in a desolate winter night. I'm not a complicated guy, and I'm happy when others are happy.

MY PHILOSOPHY

"Trubba not." - R.W.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a couple of surfers in Toronto and met many over the last couple of years. I enjoyed every one of them and hope my experiences as a surfer will be just as good!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to surf.

Interests

I'm interested in seeing how people around the world live their lives. Life is an interesting thing and I like to see what people do with it. I'm an active observer, so I like learning from people and places and putting those ideas into my own life, and if I can, I hope to improve the lives of others by teaching them something.
I find comfort and inspiration in music, movies, books, and nature. Really, everything is interesting if you take the time to look at it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I grew up on classic rock, but I enjoy anything with a beat really.

Movies - I was really getting into classic horror before I left to travel, but I enjoy a wide range.

Books - Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban is my favourite, but I love to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving with giant manta rays... I cried a little under water.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would really enjoy doing a language exchange,

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Cambodia, Canada, Colombia, France, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
