CURRENT MISSION
To travel to Sweden, Estonia and Latvia
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm an easy going Australian who's studying at the university of Edinburgh in MSc Carbon Management. I love meeting people, having fun and enjoying the great outdoors. I like to jog, play sports, watch movies and read.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't ask for meaning of life, give meaning to it!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can host people for 1-2 nights, depending on whether my flatmates are ok with it of course. I love to talk to people from all backgrounds and learn about how they view the world from where they come from.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted one girl from China and surfed at CS members places in Sweden, Estonia and Latvia. So far it's been such a great experience and I wish I had known this earlier. It's so much more than saving some cash on accommodation...!
Interests
Football, kendo, reading, movies, drama, jogging, traveling, or just resting and chilling at home.
I am a shodan (1st dan) in the art of kendo which is Japanese fencing. I am addicted to this and train at least 3 times a week whereever I am in the world.
Am following all the major European football leagues...with a keen eye on Liverpool this season.
Am gonna run the Paris marathon this year!
Watching this fantastic Taiwanese drama called Police et vous. Not to be missed by Mandarin speakers!

Music, Movies, and Books
Like some of the classics like Godfathers trilogy, Schlinder's list etc. I enjoy all genres, from brainless American teen movies to the low budget independent stuff. Recent nice movies I've watched include There will be blood, the bank job, atonement...
Reading weird stuff by Haruki Murakami atm but most times I read non fiction. Some of the recent stuff include Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defence of Food by Michael Pollan, the End of Poverty and Common Wealth by Jeffery Sachs, Age of Turbulence by Greenspan and Solar Revolution by Travis Bradford,
I also watch recently lots of Asian media, drama and movies from Taiwan, HK, Korea and Japan.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was at a football match in Japan where the fans pelted newspapers and other confetti from the stands all throughout the match. When the match finished my mates and I were ready to head home but found that everyone around us were cleaning up the rubbish! Within less than 10 mins the entire stands were completely spotless! The thinking in unison, order and efficiency was amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
As can be seen from my studies, I'm really interested in the issue of energy and climate, and how our lives and our world are affected. Energy is really about choice in our daily life - how we commute, what we eat, what we consume and who we vote for. I don't pass judgment on people's choice but am generally curious about what choices people make in life and how (and if) they justify the choices.
