About Me

CURRENT MISSION

on the road to being more awake and grateful for being alive in this wonderful universe

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurer at heart diving into the mysteries of music as a youth, a two year sailing voyage in a sailboat I built with my own hands in my late twenties, exploring the inner reaches of the mind and on my spiritual path from Jungian Psychology to astrology to a shamanic practice that continues to nourish and challenge the limited stories about who I am and what the world is. I live in a geodesic dome house that I designed and built thirty + years ago

PHILOSOPHY

life is a mystery and the universe is made of music

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a spare room that is sometimes available to guests and I hope to stay with hosting members from time to time. I do enjoy meeting and learning from folks who come from different parts of the world and I am grateful for the ways they have enriched my life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted many Couchsurfers in the guest room in my house and I have Couchsurfed when I was traveling in Maine and when I was traveling in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Interests

in no particular order - bike riding, hiking, astrology, depth psychology, wood working, Jin Shin Jyutsu (an ancient Japanese healing art) and sailing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I went to Peabody Conservatory with the trumpet as a young man so classical music is my home. I sang with The Baltimore Choral Arts Society for many years but these days I am loving the hours I spend at the piano. I am drawn to all music that rises out of the soul of a people, the music that says this is who I am.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sailed from Baltimore in a sailboat I built down to Florida, through the Bahamas to the Caribbean Islands and back learning seamanship and navigation as I went. two years later I returned, alive and well with boat intact, a much different person.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe we are all teachers for one another so I am always learning from my fellow Couchsurfers and I am happy to share any knowledge and experience I might possess with anyone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share thoughtful conversation and my observations about the world, stories about my sailing adventures, and places I've traveled to. I have designed and built several houses, a large sailboat and over a hundred pieces of furniture, so I might be some help if you have a project your thinking about. I know what it's like to invite a stranger into my home, I have hosted fellow travelers dozens of times, so I can share with you my deep gratitude for your generosity and openness to new CouchSurfing experiences.
