About Me

Howdy.
I was brought up on a ranch near Fredericksburg, TX, went to school at the one and only The University of Texas at Austin. I studied biochemistry and chemistry and graduated with both bachelor degrees. I ended up working in pharmaceuticals making synthetic delta-9 THC called Syndros™ for cancer patients. Then I became a manager for a manufacturing company in California making THC oil from marijuana ;) Now I make DNA and RNA at a biotech company.

I can speak, read, and understand Spanish at a near-fluent level. I can also cook better than Gordan Ramsey. My favorite foods are breakfast tacos containing cactus and egg on a homemade corn tortilla (hecho a mano). I also love tamales and BBQ.

My dad, a math professor, taught me poker at the young age of 10 and I've been playing in poker tournaments since I was 11 years of age. I have a consistent track record of making it to the final rounds in poker.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After seeing the postive experiences from my roomate hosting couchsurfers in our own house, I decided to become my host. I have met and helped many couchsurfers explore my city of Austin, Texas. I want to make sure people leave here knowing they aquired a true and local Austin/Texas experience.

My philosphy is this: Couchsurfing isn't just for providing shelter to travelers for free. It is more than that. Consider staying/hosting with me if you're looking for an engaging experience with a local who is willing to be your free tour guide and friend. For example, I do not host if you're looking just for a bed to sleep on for some upcoming music festival where we won't see or hear from each other throughout the majority of the stay. Couchsurfing is a way to make new life-long connections and friends by socially engaging with locals and travelers. This is important because by having genuine and sentimental interactions with stranger(s) you've never met before, life-long connections and friendships can be formed which is priceless compared to the materialistic and objectified feeling you get when paying for an AirBnb.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was infected with Covid-19 and survived. Now I'm vaccinated!

I was a chemist making pharmaceutical tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) synthetically, and I was a manager for a facility in California.

Hosted DANKSGIVING instead of THANKSGIVING for several years ;)

I've traveled to Cuba multiple times and still continue traveling there.

I've mastered the art of cooking amazing breakfast tacos.

I worked for the Red Cross immigrants given refugee status by the US. Refugees were mainly from Guatemala and Honduras.

Stole my parent's car and drove to Mexico with my friends.

Drove couchsurfers all the way to Houston just so they can catch their flight (several times)

Future plan: Get rich, stop cancer, solve world hunger, and have a family.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach and share experiences related to:
-Science
-Gambling
-Travel Knowledge

I'm willing to learn anything plus ask a million questions for more detail.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can rob a bank together or bake cupcakes...

Just kidding (maybe). I can share my background, knowledge, and cookings for a few nights at your place. I've been described as "chirpy", "spontaneous", "extroverted", and "crazy" so you won't have a day where you're bored. I've also been described as "real" because I don't and won't pretend to be someone who I'm not.

Canada, Cuba, Mexico
