About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn and laugh as much as humanly possible.

ABOUT ME

I have an insatiable thirst for learning, particularly learning from others because I think everyone has valuable information and experiences to share. I love when people show acts of kindness and I believe that lots of kindness and community are essential for happiness. I dance my ass off to funk and soul music whenever possible (including my car or in the street), but will also dance to most other things. I love to laugh (does anybody not like to laugh?? [for kicks, insert image and mental reflection of a sad clown]) and I probably laugh most when I am with my family. I wish my salsa moves were better, but I will keep trying. I have turntables, a fair amount of vinyl, and giant speakers that date back to when people made giant, unnecessarily large speakers for homes. If I find an insect in my house, I take time to nicely escort them outside. Socially conscious hip hop (not to be confused with top-40 hip-hop) typically inspires me. I like being around non-human animals more/less as much as human animals. My two non-human animals who domesticated me are wise, bad-ass, and great travelers. If I was not able to travel and meet new people, I'd be missing a big source of happiness. I don't believe anybody can be adequately summed up in a paragraph or list of statements....but maybe someone could be adequately summed up if able to write a book of original quotes that balances hilarious and serious, along with complete and utter nonsense (kind of like a combo of Milan Kundera, Jack Handy, Haruki Murakami, Sarah Silverman, George Saunders, and Rumi). If you know or write good quotes, I'd like to hear them.

PHILOSOPHY

For personal and community connection, I think it’s healthy to act in ways that promote learning, fairness, and understanding. I also make sure that I don't take myself too seriously (see above about laughing).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Each CS experience I've had has been fantastic in its own unique way. It's a terrific community of people and I continue to meet wonderful, kind, and thoughtful couch surfers.

Interests

For better or worse, I may be interested in too many things. At the present time, some interests include improving my Spanish, photography, and as always, travel to anywhere. I also care deeply about improving educational equity in the world. This is a personal and professional and emotional interest, and if you’re so inclined, we can chat about that. If not, just tell me about your interests and I bet that will interest me (which I say because if you’re reading this, your interests are probably not focused on things like getting power and money…but maybe I’m wrong, and I suppose that fact would interest me). In this statement, it seems I’m interested in using the word “interest” as much as possible.
