Overview
About Me
After pastoring a Mennonite church in Alaska for 14 years, I am taking a year off to travel and explore Alaska and the rest of the world. I enjoy new sights, cultures and people. I'm new to Couchsurfing, but I've had good experiences with similar hospitality networks like Mennonite-Your-Way and Servas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What I most enjoy about travelling is meeting new people and seeing the world through their eyes. I like to experience a place through those who live there and get a sense of what life is like for them.
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy participating in folk music (Old-time, Irish, Cajun, etc.). I also enjoy Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Funk, Rock, Reggae, Gypsy Jazz and more. I enjoy reading novels (sci-fi, fantasy, humor and "real" literature) and non-fiction.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm travelling all over Alaska this summer, from Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Chain, to McCarthy, to the Arctic Circle and all places in between. I also spent three months in Switzerland and a semester in the Dominican Republic, which were amazing trips.
With the right attitude, everything is amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to learn and I'm interested in other people's hobbies. I started a Sacred Harp singing in my city and I like to introduce people to folk music and dance.
