About Me
ABOUT ME
Hello travelers! I'm Jack D.
About one year ago I moved from the forested green mountains of Vermont to Brooklyn, NY, to advance my career in journalism. I'm good with words, but have so far not been great at globe-trekking. I'm ready to change that, and I'm looking for a spare couch here or a spare room there. to help me in my pursuit.
About me:
I'm your ordinary tall 27-year-old guy who loves sports, music, books and good food and drink. I'm an avid fan of San Francisco sports teams, a drummer in a jam-blues trio in NYC, and spend my commutes into Manhattan reading music biographies, US history and the works of my favorite journalists like Charlie LeDuff. The background music when walking varies but includes Dire Straits, The Grateful Dead, The Band, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Paul Simon and a daily dose of my favorite, Pink Floyd. This is only the tip of the ice berg though folks, and I'm always looking for more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on this website because everybody needs to explore, and part of that spirit of mobility is meeting others. You can learn a lot about a town from one resident.
Traveled to Washington DC in Summer 2014. Awesome experience!

Teach, Learn, Share
Writing a news article is not easy. It's not just telling people the where, when and how. Every article is your chance to put your voice into something thousands of people will read. That makes it a big responsibility as well as a slate for your creativity and vocabulary. It's a mental exercise each time, one that makes you break the confines of the ordinary
