About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning from experiences. I truly believe experience - whether your own, or hearing it from someone else - is our best teacher.

ABOUT ME

I love getting to know people on a deeper level - what makes them happy? What is their story? What has life taught them that they can pass on to me? I am genuinely interested in all walks of life. From the introverts to the extroverts; I believe I can learn from everyone, and not to mention, have a few laughs along they way. I laugh often, love to "go with the flow" and am quite optimistic. I am a respectful person, a kind person, I have a good sense of humor and am very grateful for my place on this earth. I am working as an ESL teacher in a small town called Thung Song, Thailand and have plans to be a drifter for a bit.

PHILOSOPHY

"Everything you experience in your life a reflection of what you think and what you judge. If you think men or women are players, you attract players. If you think people are dishonest, you attract dishonest people. If you are focused on a sickness or disease, on fighting illness, you attract more. If you focus on poverty or lack, you gain nothing more than an empty bank account. Everything you hold to be "true" becomes your reality. See abundance, see honesty in all. Embrace good health, what's going right in your body, appreciate emotionally healthy people, focus on the beauty that surrounds you. You were born of perfection, it is your core. So get in touch with the creative energy within you. Dance, sing, move your body, eat delicious life giving foods and take time to contemplate the goodness and abundance within you."

Positive attracts positive. Negative attracts negative.

"If you smile at me, I will understand. 'Cause that is something everybody, everywhere does in the same language." I believe we should be kinder to each other because everyone we meet is fighting his or her own battles. "Kindness is my religion."

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Update April 2014:
Well, I've had a few couch surfing experiences since joining this amazing community and I'll tell you what... they have all been RAD! I can now say I've hosted people from Switzerland, South Africa, France, Costa Rica, Australia and America and have couchsurfed in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia! My philosophy still stands true: People are awesome!

Old News:
This is all new to me, but have shared many couches, off the couchsurfing record, in my short time on this planet. From offering my apartment in San Diego to friends who have partied too much, to being taken in by people in Thailand when my town was flooded with Monsoon rains and I could not get home. I love it all; I dig it all. People are awesome.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much to write about... but I'll tell you, I dig a lot of it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just recently, my town of Thung Song, Thailand was hit with 5 days of non-stop rain - with the leftover storm from Typhoon Haiyan. I had been driving on my motorcycle about 10 kilometers from my apartment when the river walls broke and flooded the only road I could use to get back home. It was around 1am and I was contemplating the walk through the snake infested water when I was approached by a small Thai man and his fragile wife. They asked me in the best English they could if I had a place to stay while the river was running wild. I informed them I was going to walk the 10 km back to my house and fetch my motorcycle the next day - granted it was still high and dry. They told me I was a crazy boy and I should sleep in their one-room house. They had never met a strange foreigner before and I was amazed at their ability to offer their small house to shelter me from the rain. People are amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love this idea! I wish I had more to offer in this sense. I am decently knowledgeably about surfing - I was a surf coach for 5 years. I want to learn everything from you all, and in due time, I will pass it along to people I meet.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am lover of conversation, so I can offer an ear or a mouth to discover all the ways we can celebrate life together. I can cook and clean, or help out around the house. I'm a big fan of whiskey - so I'm never opposed to sharing that with anyone!
