I was born and raised in the US. After graduating university I worked as a tour leader for G Adventures in Central and South America. I came to Japan as a JET program ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) and I like it, so I plan on sticking around for a while.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My girlfriend is over at my place about half the time and my apartment is quite small (Imagine a hotel room with a kitchen), so it's difficult for me to put people up, but I do have extra bedding and if my lady isn't over, I'd consider housing someone for a night or two, 1-2 people max.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't hosted or surfed, but now's as good a time as any to start.

Music, Movies, and Books

As far as music goes I like some punk and indie and a fair amount of rock...older rock/pop more than new. Favorite band: Guided by Voices...

I will read just about anything but haven't been reading too much lately. I like books on Latin American history and culture ('First Stop in the New World' is a favorite), as well as travel books...fiction and classic literature is ok, too.

Favorite Movies: Groundhog Day, Terminator 2, Ninja Turtles (1990 version), and Royal Tenenbaums. I also like a handful of 70s films (Chinatown, The Conversation, The Hospital, etc) and go to the cinema whenever there's anything decent playing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Building a snowman in the Bolivian desert was pretty special. I've also swam with penguins and sea lions and whale sharks.
