About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Imagine all the people living life in peace… and actively contributing to make it happen every day.
ABOUT ME
Hi! I’m Ivan, an electronics engineer and software developer with a passion for international projects and cultural exchange. Originally from Russia, I now live and work in Berlin. In the past, I was actively involved in international exchange projects between Russia and Germany, and I continue to support youth exchange programs today. Currently, I’m engaged in volunteer projects through the European Solidarity Corps, fostering cultural understanding and collaboration across borders. I’m open-minded, friendly, and love meeting new people from around the world.
I believe that real connections happen beyond screens, but here are my socials if you'd like to know more: http://www.facebook.com/nizovtsev.ivan

PHILOSOPHY
Think globally, act locally. Every small, positive step we take impacts a much bigger picture. I’m passionate about creating meaningful connections and contributing to international understanding in everyday life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing because I’m drawn to the diversity of European cultures, especially those of the Mediterranean. I have a particular interest in the Canary Islands, southern regions of the EU, and places like Turkey (especially Antalya). I’d love to make friends from these areas, as well as from southern Spain, Portugal, and Italy, including Sicily.
I’m attracted not only to the coastal beauty but also to the rich history and cultural traditions of the Mediterranean. I’m fascinated by the religious heritage, ancient legends, and unique ways of life that make each place truly special. I’m especially interested in seeing how local people live within these deeply layered cultures and religious influences that have developed over thousands of years.
Interests
I’m passionate about international youth exchange programs and volunteering, especially through the European Solidarity Corps. I also love Berlin’s techno scene and the inclusive spirit of the city. My interests range from student initiatives and cultural projects to experiencing vibrant nightlife and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m a big fan of techno and electronic music, especially Berlin’s underground scene. In film, I’m drawn to thought-provoking European cinema and classic Russian films. I also enjoy watching scientific YouTube videos on topics like AI, metaphysics, quantum physics, and other sciences. As for books, I love reading sci-fi, psychology, cultural studies, and novels. The book of my life is Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, followed closely by We by Zamyatin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most memorable experiences I had was participating in a European Solidarity Corps project in Jena, Germany. It was incredible to meet people from different countries, work on community projects, and build friendships that crossed cultural boundaries. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of international collaboration and youth engagement.
Another profound experience has been visiting Berlin’s iconic clubs, Berghain and KitKat. These places completely reshaped my view of life, people, and our world. They changed my understanding of myself—as a person, an individual, and a social being.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some basics of electronics, programming, German language, or even share insights on navigating life as an expat in Germany. I’d love to learn about others’ cultures and perspectives, especially around art, music, and social initiatives. And I’m always ready to share my experience in volunteer projects and cultural exchanges.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my knowledge about life in Germany, tips for exploring Berlin, and some Russian cooking skills if you’re interested in trying something new! I’m also happy to exchange stories from my travels, discuss international projects, or just enjoy a night out together exploring the city’s nightlife.
