About Me

I was born and brought up in Edinburgh in Scotland, where I am now at university. At university I discovered my passion for foreign cultures and languages through the study of Russian. Since then I've devoted pretty much all my free time and money trying to travel as much as possible!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In my experience, travel is ALL about the people that you meet and the experiences that you share and couchsurfing is an amazing way to connect with people you may never have met otherwise, either as a host or traveller. It gives us a wonderful opportunity to get new perspectives on life and be exposed to different ways of thinking.

Interests

I love to cook. I'm vegetarian and so I particularly love Indian food but I'm always looking for new recipes to try.
I like to learn about new places from eyewitness accounts, whether it's your home town or it's somewhere that you've visited.
I like to have my perspectives and opinions challenged and believe that open-mindedness is essential to being a happy and well rounded person.
I'm really interested in politics and looking at different to create a better, happier society.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm increasingly in to electronic dance music and the entire scene that surrounds it however my tastes are relatively broad. Like a bit of classical, reggae, hip-hop, prog, rock; just about everything but metal. I love live music and festivals of just about any genre.
My favourite author by far is George Orwell and reading his books when I was younger had a huge impact on my outlook and political philosophy. I also quite like authors like Dickens, Chekhov and Gogol but I don't read much contemporary fiction, mostly non-fiction (usually history, politics and socialist and feminist theory e.g. Rosa Luxemburg, Chomsky, Hitchens).
I spend too much time watching films/ tv shows online and my tastes are pretty broad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching St Petersburg come to life from the roof of an apartment after spending all night strolling through the deserted twilight.
Also, nothing had prepared me for the first time I saw the inside of La Sagrada Familia - it is truly awe-inspiring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to show you around the city and take you to my favourite bars, cafes, clubs, parks - whatever you fancy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Chat, food, alcohol and merriment.

Countries I’ve Visited
