ABOUT ME

Well... I'm a generally happy person; a bit of a student of the world; freckles and left-handed; moderate in most of my habits; generally up for a laugh. I would say 'I love to travel', but as I have lived in Japan for 10 years now, it's sometimes like I'm always travelling (i.e. it doesn't really suffice to say "I love to travel"; I don't just love to travel, it's basically become my lifestyle.) :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I stayed with some neat people in Australia in May; now I've already hosted three people!! This is fun!!
Otherwise, previously, in Japan there was this 'Tatami Timeshare' program for the 4,000 people on the JET program to teach in Japan; I hosted ten times or so, and 'timeshared' myself three; it was all fun. This "Couchsharing" idea seems very similar.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With the above 'Tatami Timeshare' program in Japan, I once stayed with someone who turned out to be the college roommate of someone who was on the high school debate team with me in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (USA)! There are likely to be other such coincidences in the future ...

Interests

reading (a great variety)
writing (very time-consuming)
taking pictures (I just bought a 'new' camera!!)
exercise/walking
movies (drama; non-fiction-based things; or 'excellent' from any other category)

Wow! I do read a lot; I like to watch all kinds of movies; I have a hard drive with a bit (a ton) of music on it

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

becoming a father; every bit of it, even when I'm dead tired from work, I still find miraculous.
At a different level, the view from the top of Mt. Fuji isn't all bad, either; like the view from an airplane window, but broader, and somehow 'closer'

Teach, Learn, Share

Generally, people who have already done something meaningful with their lives, or who have big plans, get my respect, and possibly support; though they probably don't 'need' or expect it.

Let's go out and eat! (I am not much of a drinker, maybe a beer once a month? You're right, I am boring...😁)
