About Me

Current Location: Manila, Philippines
Open to meet-ups, coffee, or tea :)

CURRENT MISSION: To live a balanced life

ABOUT ME

I think of myself as understanding and open-minded, and optimistic about life in general. I love exploring new places, meeting new people, learning (language, history, customs/traditions), and just living in the moment basically. I hear from my friends a lot that they warm up to me easily because I am such a good (read: patient) listener.

PHILOSOPHY

One of my favorite quotes comes from the book/movie Way of the Peaceful Warrior. It says, "There is never nothing going on. There are no ordinary moments."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Travel is the only thing we buy that makes us richer. Cliché but hey, there is some truth to it - a lot actually. I think that it is very cool to realize how we all share the same struggles and dreams at our core. When you think about it, our collective human experience is amazing. For me, exchanging thoughts and experiences with other people has a great value to all of human life because we take that insight with us wherever we go. And it kind of changes the way we see things and how we interact with other people. It helps us to appreciate our differences with other people and also embrace them. The more we travel, the less we know because we realize that there is just so much more to learn, but the more we become respectful too of other people and the things they believe in.

I am still new to Couchsurfing.

My first CS experience ever was only a couple years back when I stayed at the dormitory of an awesome French guy living in Cambridge, Massachusetts at that time. It was a long weekend in the US celebrating the Independence Day. Manu, an engineer, took me to his science lab (mind blowing) and then let me join the walking tour of the city with his parents (who flew from France at that time to see him for his birthday). He even let me have his bicycle, but which hit the snag so I wasn't able to use it! Haha still a friendly gesture. But anyway, I thought to myself, if all the people on CS were as nice as him, then this circle must be amazing -- I still think it is to this day.

When I travel, I usually stay in a hostel to seize the chance of meeting new people from different parts of the globe. Ultimately, both CS and hosteling achieve the same end. With CS though, of course, you get to stay for FREE, and friendship is always included. :)

Interests

I am into startups. I am passionate about venturing into businesses that are in line with my passion -- travel, technology, well-being. I love to keep challenging myself -- however some days I just like to be lazy and do nothing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love The Beatles. I am also into the classics and the music of balladeers such as Josh Groban, Michael Buble, and Il Divo. Recently though, I have developed this inexplicable interest for country music. :-)

I've always loved indie films -- French, Filipino, Spanish especially..

I love books about the human mind & pyschology - I eat them. I also love reading the likes of John Grisham, Deepak Chopra, Paulo Coelho, CS Lewis, Seneca (On the Shortness of Life) :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paragliding, Scuba-diving in my beautiful country (Philippines)

Teach, Learn, Share

I know of a few card tricks! I can teach you that when we meet!

I'll share my food. And industry. And we can jam if you are into music ;)
