If it is there, Take it and Always back yourself is a personal philosophy I always have tried to follow whether it be at with work or traveling. I believe it has helped me develop an attitude than is always seeking something new and different and if I find myself in a situation I cannot control I follow my instincts and it has always helped me to pull myself through.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While I was living in Townsville, QLD I hosted a number of surfers over a 3 month period. It was an awesome experience as I had a great apartment in the middle of town and loved sharing the awesome view I had with other people.
In 2013 I finally headed to Europe with a bicycle, a few bags and plenty of ambition and cycled through France, Belgium, Holland and Scotland! I had the privilege during that time to do some awesome couch surfing with a number of wonderful and interesting people. After cycling kilometres over hills, into headwinds and at times the loneliness of being on the road, there was nothing better than knocking on a strangers door who I'd only contacted a few times via emails and see their warm welcoming smile, being invited in and talking like we had be friends for years! these moments were some of the best experiences and is what I believe couch surfing to be all about!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a broad interest in movies from comedies to action to drama can't really narrow that one down.
Music would have to be House or Electro although my playlist do involve a lot of Rock Classics, Country and RnB. I think as long as the music has a good beat and deep lyrics I can listen to it.
Book are important I am always reading something. Very big on History texts and historic novels but I do enjoy reading a lot of Biographies on Adventurers and Explorers as a source of inspiration.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013 I took a bike to Europe to do something I have always dreamed off and tour through France up into Netherlands. I think just being on the road with a couple pannier bags, a tent and a lot of determination gave me a sense of freedom I hadn't had in a long time. Being able to pull off the road at the end of the day, set up my tent and drink a bottle of wine as the sun set over the French countryside made everyday an amazing experience.

There have been some amazing things I have seen and lot of it has to be natural events but the one event that truly stands out would be watching the Sunrise at Monument Valley in Utah, USA. I had been travelling by myself for a few weeks across Arizona and into Utah and I think getting up early in the freezing morning was perfect to watch the red desert slowly rise out of the darkness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love being outdoors and living on the coast there is plenty of things i can share, teach or even learn with guests! i have plenty of different bikes and there are plenty of awesome pathways to cycle along. I have a surfboard and access to plenty of different beaches! there is also other options for bushwalking, fishing or just relaxing having a nice beer on the balcony.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do think of myself as a fairly decent cook and travelling through europe and while living and working back home is Aus i never shy away from the chance to get in the kitchen and cook something up. Im always up for a challenge and if my host is a good cook and knows some local or cultural cuisine ill get in there and help and learn.
