Hi! I am Johnny - a half-Spanish, half-English lover of foreign languages and cultures.

I enjoy travelling, and have visited many places. I went to school in Spain and in England, and studied Modern Languages (with a focus on translation and interpreting) at the University of Southampton.

I have worked as an English teacher in Salamanca, Spain; Cologne, Germany; and I am now an English teacher in Okayama, Japan. I have been living in Japan since summer 2016. Whilst in Japan, I am also working as a voice actor and am in charge of recordings for English language education CDs that are distributed within my region of Japan. It is a test project by the Japanese government, and if it is successful, it will be used nationwide.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think that the best way to find out about new places is by speaking with the people that live there. I would also like to provide that for people visiting where I am! Let's explore the world together!

Interests

My hobbies are playing music (I am a keen pianist, guitarist, and bass guitarist), doing karaoke, trying new foods, meeting new people, and playing sports. I am currently playing hockey for Hiroshima. I also enjoy cooking!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I enjoy music of all genres, as long as it is interesting! I really enjoy rock music, but also a lot of Spanish and South American music; reggaetón, salsa, bachata… I really do like all kinds of music 😃

Movies:
I am a big Star Wars fan, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit… anything that is epic haha. I also enjoy dramas and conspiracy films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have played international hockey for England when I was 16 years old.

I have toured France in a jazz band - I was the guitarist.
