About Me
***MAYBE ACCEPTING GUESTS***
My name is ConnellI live in Galway on the west coast of Ireland. I've been a musician from an early age and have been lucky enough to see some of the world while playing music.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Staying in hostels and camping is one thing but I think to stay with a local is to get the proper atmosphere of a town or city or to get to know a culture. I think I miss out on so much experience if I stayed in a hostel somewhere I'm sure every place has a secret of something special about it that all the locals are in on but the tourist trail is not aware even exists. Musicians especially welcome!
Interests
If you come and stay, I insist on a sea swim in the ocean. There is no greater dopamine kick than getting your blood pumping in the cold Atlantic water!

Music, Movies, and Books
There's isn't much music I don't like except most electronic (unless it's real chill) and mostly everything I've heard on daytime radio the last 8 years. I've played piano since I was 9 (start your couchsurf message to me with "slainte" so I know you've read my profile and are not a chancer ;) ) but also play guitar and mandolin (which is my favorite). As for movies Star Wars is fantastic. I have a rule about books, I'll always finish a book or a series even if I don't enjoy it completely and love ASOIAF.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went on tour with a band! We played in France, Spain, Holland, Germany and Salzberg in Austria. I've also busked in all these countries which is an amazing way to travel.
Teach, Learn, Share
My house is very musical. We currently house 6 guitars, 2 electrics, 2 mandolins, a drum-kit, a piano, an electric organ, a banjo, 2 violins, 1 saxophone, 1 trumpet, 1 set of harmonicas and a didgeridoo. If you can't play, we can definitely teach you something!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Galway is an incredible city. There's so much art and music happening and craic to be had. You'll miss out on so much if all you do is walk down Shop Street to the Spanish Arch (which is a great walk and the Arch is savage too) and follow that trail. Galway is beautiful (Salthill is lovely for an early morning swim too!) but if you just look at the surface, you'll be missing out on so much.
I would recommend avoiding Galway during Race Week. It is a horse-racing festival each summer and is not the best time to visit. Usually late-July/ early-August.
