About Me

My name's Johnny, and I'm a 20-year-old architecture student in Hong Kong.
I believe that life is all about style and flair and that we should make every day count for something. :)
I like having fun and meeting new people, and crashing parties that I'm not invited to ;) I try to have a diverse range of interests to meet as many people as possible, and I try to be good at what I like doing.

You'll find me on Instagram as @j13tse and on Facebook at facebook.com/johnny13tse. I use Twitter as well at @JohnnyTse, although Twitter is not common at all in Hong Kong.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm headed to the United States from July to August (2016) on a school field trip (Los Angeles), and then travelling around on a road trip.
Wouldn't mind meeting some locals along the way!
Realized that there are a lottttttt of people on this platform, and I've never been shy in meeting new friends! (Although I do get shy around pretty girls, haha.)

Interests

I watch a lot of sports, and I try to catch the games of my favourite basketball and football teams that happen every week. My favourite NBA team is the OKC Thunder and my Premier League team is Arsenal. If that tells you anything about me, it should be that I like high-octane, flashy teams that have a knack of underachieving and being underdogs.

I also watch a lot of television. From Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to DC's Legends of Tomorrow to How to Get Away With Murder to Blindspot to Gotham to Scorpion to The Flash to Quantico to Doctor Who, I follow a lot of television series. Oh, and I forgot to throw in Game of Thrones.

I like writing as well. I have two blogs - one personal blog and one that I'm trying to build into a magazine with a friend of mine. I'll post links here if they succeed somehow.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm a very mainstream listener, but I don't like songs which have no lyrical prowess to it at all (looking at 'Work' by Rihanna... "werwerwerwerwer..."). Love catchy melodies though. So I do listen to stuff like Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Carly Rae Jepsen, Maroon 5, 5 Seconds of Summer, and other Pop genre stuff, but I like even more stuff from Hip-hop/Rock like B.o.b., T.I., Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Green Day, Linkin Park, Bullet For My Valentine, etc.

Movies: I've tried to catch up to all the good movies. Old movies always surprise me with how good they are, like The Breakfast Club, Fight Club, Alien. I'm a sucker for movie series because I need closure, so I watch a lot of sci-fi and superhero movies. However, my favourite movies are rom-coms done well (e.g. The F Word aka What If featuring Zoe Kazan and Daniel Radcliffe, and The Perks of Being A Wallflower (eek! Emma Watson!)) and also smart heist movies. My favourite movie all-time is actually Ocean's Eleven.

Books: Also, I read a lot of books series. Harry Potter came out when I was 6 or 7 - I read all the books the day they came out in bookstores. I read Darren Shan's two series in secondary school; Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Artemis Fowl all sci-fi/fantasy series that I like reading. As I've grown a bit older I've read more of Stephen King and Joe Hill. Been reading less since I got into university, more watching movies and television series instead (easier to fit into schedule). Favourite book of all-time: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a summer doing 4 jobs.
I interned at a magazine for a month, interned at a construction company as an engineer for a month, and worked part-time for two months as both a novelist (some dude paid me to write/edit for him) and a quizmaster at a pub.
Most hectic and tiring two months of summer I ever experienced, and most gratifying as well.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a big database of random knowledge, that will pop up at random times.
I'm alright with technology, growing up in this era - I know Photoshop and video-editing, and I'm figuring out HTML code for my blog.

I'm always willing to learn!

I think life is an interconnection of stories - I love to share stories I've heard from other people, and my own little views on life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a pretty good conversationalist :)

I also take pretty good pictures :))

I'm also Chinese, so I can share a bit about Chinese culture if you guys wanna know more about China.
And of course! Always welcome to visit me/my family in Hong Kong.
