Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
setting off to travel around malaysia .... other than that, i don't need a mission: i am right where i need to be, here and now
ABOUT ME
I'm a quiet, easy-going, adventurous, intelligent, sometimes shy but always up for a laugh, Kiwi (ie. from New Zealand) who is passionate about something that most of the world hates: mathematics. But don't worry, I rarely talk about it unless questioned closely, and generally spend my time doing other things to use up my energy and satisfy my curiosity about the world. My ethos in life is tolerance - live and let live - and making the most of my time on this incredible planet.
PHILOSOPHY
Here. Now. That's all it's about. Sure, I plan for tomorrow (sometimes) and remember the lessons of yesterday, but mostly try to make sure that today I am creating my memories and living my plans.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
No couch available right now, sorry. I do love meeting people though, so if you're in the area and want to be shown around just send me a message!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Having read other profiles, it seems that this section is often used to list whom you have hosted or surfed with. As a non-conformist, all I'm going to say is that CS has introduced me to some wonderful people and incredible places that I never would have found otherwise.
Interests
languages, food, culture, sustainable living, gardening, running, dancing, swimming, laughing, loving, reading, sleeping, cooking, eating, drinking, card and board games, tennis, football, taekwondo, playing piano, watching the sun rise and set, skiing, climbing, hiking .... give me something else to do and i'll probably enjoy that too

Music, Movies, and Books
music: whatever is playing, as long as no-one is complaining about it (listening to sigur ros as i write this) (update: listening to cafe del mar as I update my profile)
books: constantly reading something when i'm not out exploring; favourite authors include Haruki Murakami, Paulo Coelho, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt, Stieg Larsson .... at the moment I'm reading "Every Man Dies Alone" by Hans Fallada - everyone should read this book!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching a nursery of baby seals playing under a waterfall in the wild.
Seeing the sun rise as a big bright red ball in South Korea.
Teach, Learn, Share
Somewhere in the dim past I was an English teacher, and still enjoying swapping languages with others whenever possible. I love to help out in any way I can when I stay in someone else's house - cooking, cleaning, fixing things, gardening. Also like to learn how to cook meals from the places I visit.
Countries I’ve Visited

Countries I’ve Lived In
