About Me

What I appreciate most in people is intelligence, open-mindedness, and a sense of humor.
In fact, I believe that my references and interests (as well as other stuff below) give a comprehensive description of what I am.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that Couchsurfing is one of those things that make tedious journeys into adventures. From my perspective, meeting new people -- and thus diving way deeper into a foreign culture -- is the most crucial part of any trip and is far better than incarcerating yourself in the hotel.

Interests

Three years ago I decided to dedicate my life to mathematics, and I have never regretted this choice so far. So I would certainly find it compelling to have an interesting conversation about mathematics (as well as biology, physics, and science in general). I love having deep discussions of complex philosophical problems (and have a bunch to suggest; for instance, I am a staunch supporter of determinism and I don't believe in free will -- many people will find it absurd, I guess). I am also a big fan of stand-up shows (Louis CK ❤) and watch a lot of late night shows (Stephen Colbert, Conan O'Brien, and John Oliver ❤❤❤). Apart from that, I'm crazy about bikes (see "One Amazing Thing I've Done" below).

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC

To me, music is indispensable (if you watched Baby Driver, you must understand what I'm talking about). I listen to about 5-6 albums every day and, consequently, can talk about music for hours. Although I started with a rock classic (Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen), my preferences have widened a lot and lie now somewhere between progressive metal (Dream Theater, Haken, Rush, Caligula's Horse, Tesseract, Leprous, Arcane, Circus Maximus, Sun Caged, Symphony X, The Contortionist, Earthside), progressive rock (either classic [Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson] or more modern [Thank You Scientist, Strawberry Girls, Closure in Moscow, Riverside, Lunatic Soul, Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson]), postrock (God Is An Astronaut, 65daysofstatic, If These Trees Could Talk, Mogwai, pg. lost), some golden rock/metal classic (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Dio), and works of various genius solo musicians (David Maxim Micic, Plini, Sithu Aye, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai). In addition, I'm in love with System of a Down and desperately trying to rouse myself to love jazz (Coltrane's A Love Supreme) and classical music (managed Poulenc). If I ever get disappointed in mathematics, I'll become a drummer (and I will draw inspiration from Mike Mangini, Mike Portnoy, and Neil Peart).

MOVIES

Currently, my favorite film directors are Edgar Wright and Guy Ritchie (and Tarantino, but, come on, everybody loves him by default). I am also a big fan of Marvel (DC sucks, by the way) and the LOTR/Hobbit trilogies. It seems that it would be rather a madness to list all the movies I find delightful, but some random ones are, say, Memento, Shining, Truman's Show, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first thing that comes to mind is how I celebrated my 18th birthday. I considered usual celebrations with friends to be too mundane for such a day and set off for a bike ride (which was meant to be rather short, though). Something went wrong, and it turned into a long and captivating adventure that took all the day. We covered nearly 70km, of which about 5 we passed on foot because of the severe wind.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The main thing I can offer is me (I aslo hope it is the best thing to offer, but who knows... 🙃). Apart from that, I can cook you some dishes (which I hope you will find tempting).
