About Me

ABOUT ME

May 2020 note: 1 case of coronavirus has been detected in the building next to my office. I don't want to risk the health of my guests, so I'm not hosting at this time, sorry.

----------
Easygoing, creative, love exploring my local area and beyond.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is good.

**** Please leave a reference on CS if I've hosted you; annoying when I have to remind people to write a reference. You're getting a free place to stay. I spend 1hr+ getting your room and house ready, then doing laundry and often change my schedule to spend time with you. Be respectful; carry on the CS spirit. *****

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've had groups of friends stay at previous places I lived in and enjoy hosting. Interesting to meet travelers and introduce them to my little corner of the world. I'm not vegetarian but I can accommodate that and food preferences, needs. I have a profile on warmshowers.org with more references there; more than 1/2 my guests are cyclists.

Interests

running, cycling, cooking. Eclectic interests and music tastes. Hashing (the running club, not smoking). On on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Have traveled to all 47 prefectures in Japan during my 13+ yrs living here, from Hokkaido to Okinawa & many places in between. Ogasawara Islands (day boat ride from Tokyo) are the last place on my Japan travel list.
Ran a 100km / 62 mile ultramarathon in June 2016; have done some bike camping.

Teach, Learn, Share

Now I live in Hitachinaka city, Ibaraki prefecture. I lived in the Dakeonsen area of Nihonmatsu city and other areas of Fukushima prefecture for about 5 years. Fukushima is quite nice. Yes it is safe.

It says my address isn't verified; I'm having a hard time getting Couchsurfing to send me a postcard to verify my current address.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I have time, I'm happy to show guests around and to help with planning trips in Japan.

Countries I’ve Visited
