Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to stay with open-minded fascinating people and as soon as I have my own place in Cape Town, I would also like to host again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

travelled in South Africa, Hungary and Morocco and met amazing hosts :-)

Interests

Sports: Football (playing, watching, travelling to big tournaments, everything ;-) ), beach volleyball, squash, handball, basketball etc.

Politics and Activism: Amnesty International, active member of the German Social Democratic Party and always interested in recent developments (especially progressive ones) in all countries I travel to

Music, Movies, and Books

I am fascinated by most novels of George Orwell. I also like Margarett Atwood and especially Henning Mankell. In addition, the poems and short stories of Berthold Brecht and Kurt Tucholsky have accompanied me throughout the last years.
A recent discovery are the novels of a German author, called Wolfgang Schorlau. Whenever you happen to find one of his books, read it. :-)

Music-wise, I am mainly into Alternative/Indie Rock and Ska/Latin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling South Africa in 2010 during and after the World Cup. Met wonderful people on the way (partly thanks to Couchsurfing) and I am happy to be back in Cape Town to spend more time here.

Participated in an international planning conference of Amnesty International to coordinate the work against human rights violations resulting from the global arms trade. Extremely inspiring and I hope the campaign has all the success it deserves. (http://amnesty.org/en/campaigns/control-arms)
