ABOUT ME

I'm a young country boy with little lived knowledge of the world beyond. I am queer(I identify as a gay male), and I am heavily into liberatory queer politics. I came out at 19, which is pretty average I guess. I'm very open about it in most contexts, though unfortunately in my hometown I am afraid to fly my flag, which makes me feel hypocritical.

I'm a bit of a toned down goth-reformist(?), or something like that. I come from a large family of mostly white-southern people, and Lakota folks from out west. Not into religion or churches, but feel close/cozy with my mother's traditions.

I love music and art but I despise most artists, unironically, mainly because a lot of artists can be elitist, egotistical, and competitive. I prefer secret artists, like the person who doodles on a napkin or paints when their sad but doesn't tell anyone.

Music and singing is my first passion, followed by illustration and story telling. I enjoy long conversations though I am secretly super awkward and might end up talking too much to hide the fact.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that safety, shelter, food, medical care, education, the ability to move/relocate, and expression are all immutable human rights. I think that people should be aware of the world we live in and the history that has brought us to this point, and try to work counter to it as best we can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to sleep on my friends couches during college since I lived an hour away from the University in which I was attending.

兴趣

Artsy stuff, fantasy worlds, imaginary things, music, like old school goth, or electronic. Pop music and metal can be fun, too. I like expressing myself and hearing others who don't get the chance to express themselves. I have an interest in social justice and community organizing though lately am struggling with what that means in terms of how I can help.

Music: Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, Evanescence, Crystal Castles, Marilyn Manson, Bauhaus, All About Eve, Bastille, Some others.

Movies: Anything with Muppets.

Books: X-Men! Umbrella Academy, Sky Doll, Watchmen, and Scott Pilgrim. I know these are all like Graphic novels/ comics but tbh who can focus on a whole book without pictures?

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I could say it was rallying for gay stuff but that wasn't that exciting to me, it was more necessary. I think to be honest it was when I was 16 and I sang at a local talent show and was on the local news. That was cool.

I have no idea what I can share. I have a really good sense of fashion in my opinion but that's not something you can teach. I am good at learning how to cook new things. I can also teach you how to fold your tongue into a clover.
