À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

Be something. Or rather many things!

ABOUT ME

Recently, I have been trying pretty hard to figure out what kind of person I want to be, and feel like I'm changing a lot these days. It's hard to describe the form of something spinning so quickly, but I can try to convey some of the colours.
I like people. I like language. I like using language with people, as in trying to understand and make myself understood. I like stories, whether in books or in anecdotes by real people. I like thinking, a lot, maybe too much sometimes.
I like Eastern Europe. I like long train rides, which sometimes coincides pretty nicely given the average speed of e.g. the Romanian railway. I like wine. I like parties. I like the chime of my bellydancing skirt. I like writing by hand.

I don't like categories. I don't like people who can't enjoy a concert without filming all the time, or people who take films or photos automatically if you start dancing in a public space (as if it were an awful accident or something).

PHILOSOPHY

You're never gonna know what the world is "really" like. Get over it. Try to look at your version of this world from as many different angles as possible and start having fun. :)

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting at least as much as surfing, but I haven't been able to do it a lot in the past. This sense of caring for and about each other this project can give to complete strangers in such a short amount of time - a really good feeling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There can be instant connection with people. It can happen everytime, everywhere. Isn't that the most reassuring experience ever?

Centres d'intérêt

Literature and art (talking about, enjoying, trying to make),
Good food (and I mean, I can get really passionate about food - it can make me deliriously happy or angry, like when you throw it away or ruin it with ketchup),
Dancing and singing extensively no matter whether I'm good at it or not,
Discussing and philosophising for hours and hours, probably trying to prove you that I'm right, but always happy to learn new things,
Sometimes I do some Yoga at home in my tiny room. I'm not flexible at all, but it helps me keep my sanity (on most days).

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Favourite authors: Jane Austen, Markus Zusak, John Green, Hermann Hesse, Walter Moers (Check out his Zamonia novels!!!), Stefan Zweig, Eva Illouz, Dubravka Ugresic... Due to school, I also read many Classics, and I particularly enjoyed Shakespeare, Boccaccio and Hemingway. I specialized in Postcolonial Theory.

I attended a course on Design Thinking for a few months and since then, I fervently believe we're ALL potential creative geniuses. Every single one of us. If you don't believe me, please read "Creative Confidence" by the Kelley brothers.

Music I listen to: Ben Howard, The Lumineers, Rodriguez, Dota Kehr, She and Him, Daughter, Bon Iver... lots of guitars and sad lyrics. But basically I'm fine with everything except Techno and Heavy Metal.

Films I liked: Just like a woman, everything made by Wes Anderson, My Blueberry Nights, cheesy RomComs, Fight Club (of course), Inception (samesame), La Belle du Jour (disturbing but nice),...

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I went on a 2 month-trip through Canada in 2018 that I desperately needed, but had no money for. Because I WON the ticket. Because sometimes, the universe is amazing like that.

Oh, and I once partipated in a Poetry Slam in front of 500 people even though I was TERRIFIED.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I love languages, I'd like to learn as many of them as possible.
Up until now, I can come up with German, of course, and pretty good English and Spanish. My French has become a bit wobbly, but it works (more than my Romanian). I have failed horribly at trying to learn Russian and Ukrainian, but at least I can read a menu in cyrillic letters now. Yay!

I wouldn't necessarily consider myself The Greatest Chef, but I love cooking and baking and you are always welcome when on the search for some yummy vegetarian food. PS: I own the recipe for the best brownies in the world!
