ABOUT ME
I'm returning to being a couchsurfing host after not being able to welcome guests for a couple of years for practical reasons. I had loads and loads of guests before and I think I ended up a little burnt out by the whole thing. And even though I had many many many mostly interesting guests, in truth I had a few assholes as well - only a very very few. This time round my intention is to be very very selective and to only welcome people who capture my imagination when they ask for a roof and a bed.

I live in Vauxhall central London. I try not to take myself too seriously as a rule and am happy and tolerant about most things - whatever that means.

In return I'd like an invite to your city/country and I promise not to take the piss if you promise the same.

No cut and paste requests. Really please.

PHILOSOPHY

We are all going to die soon and there is no God. So enjoy yourself but be kind and generous and treat others well. Remember to feed your children and don't upset the neighbours.And buy the drinks when your turn comes round.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am situated ideally for travelers who want to check out one the world's great cities but can't afford the ludicrous expense involved.

I live with my son who's 18 and who is also keen to meet interesting new people.

I'm Irish but have lived in London since my teens. I know the city intimately and can advise or even guide if so inclined.

Since I live in central London I get a lot of requests. I can therefore choose to be selective and am so please make an effort to make me feel as though there is a good and particular reason why I should welcome you into my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Best time for this was back in late 80's Hungary when I adopted / was adopted by a group of Hungarian Anarchists who were living through some seriously changing times. They fed me and gave me Bulls Blood (wine) and splashed with me in the outdoor hot springs...It was only in close retrospect that I examined the signs and realised how I had missed something closer with Leya my female hostess. I was rigidly polite and a callow Irish country boy. Probably still am to some extent.
