About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make a positive imprint on the world-to become a better person and meet liikeminded people
ABOUT ME
I'm 60 and warm, loud and full of life. I have friends of all ages and backgrounds and love people. My life has been varied, crazy family background, institutions and homelessness when young. Sorted myself out in my teens, went to agricultural college, became a community activist, set up various projects, was a politician for 10 years have 3 kids, who have now all left home. Have a dog who is friendly. Moved to Dalyan in Turkey in September 2014 in order to spend time on my writing and explore the beautiful natural surroundings.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is for living, it can be a challenge, but that makes it exciting. I want to make a positive imprint in the world, foster understanding and stand up and be counted. There is so much to do and unfortunately not enough time to do it all. I have been marking time whilst giving my girls and the other children the stability they need but, I am now in a position to do all the things I want to do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not much over recent years due to the foster children who were living with me. I'm moved to Turkey in September and am excited about hosting lots of interesting people. Also, I expect to travel more and am hoping to meet interesting, hosts.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
when young I hitchhiked around the country (UK)and crashed at all sorts of places, some great, some not so good. Am a member of Women Welcome Women worldwide, which is similar to this and have hosted several interesting women from all over the world. Haven't used it in return, because I had foster children who couldn't be taken elsewhere. But, someday I will be able to!!
Interests
I love life, people and all it has to offer. My own life has not been simple or easy but I've certainly lived it! I am really interested in world affairs, green issues, human rights and learning, both formal and informal. I love reading, writing, gardening and cooking. There isn't enough time in the day to do all I want to do.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite movie is Colour Purple and anything that stimulates, makes me think or challenges me. As for books, I like almst anything that is a decent read. My favourite book is Wild Swan, about 3 generations of women in a chinese family. As for music, I am a bit stuck in the 60's, Bob Dylan, Lenard Cohen, Carole King, love Nina Simone and latterly Amy Winehouse.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Some of the things I've done or seen are dark and depressing, but on a positive note, its the best of the human spirit and ability to grow that has moved me most. My foster daughter with learning difficulties, who blacked my eye and smashed up the house, 4 years later on stage in a production afterwards telling me she loved me, I was so moved by this and the way she had overcome the most awful life in the past
Teach, Learn, Share
I have spent my life working with people and am able to share this knowledge. I can share my knowledge of the British society, politics, foibles and much more.
I love gardening and would love to discuss plants with you. Have become involved with the Ecovillage movement and am working as a volunteer fund-raiser. Through this, I've meet the most inspiring people from around the world.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Literature, politics, food, writing, world affairs and of course my beautiful adopted town of Dalyan. I have bikes you can borrow to explore the countryside.
