About Me

I am a 23-year-old British guy living in Torquay.
I have worked in language schools my entire working life, though I am an Art History graduate. So if you wanna know about chiaroscuro or corinthian columns, I'm your man. Equally, if you don't, that's fine too. It is quite boring.

I am a very relaxed person - I enjoy my own company as well as others'. So if you want a guide for the town or some company in the evenings, great! If you want to be left alone to explore in your own time, that works for me too.

As long as there is respect for the space of others, I get on with everyone!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that learning about different cultures is essential to becoming a well-rounded person. Whilst I am relatively inexperienced within the CS community, I have gained many long-term friendships with people I have met through similar schemes, such as language exchanges, student hosting and au-pairs. I am eager to learn about all things new; cultures, traditions, foods, humours etc etc etc!!

I would like to provide my home for anybody who wishes to visit Torquay looking to gain an insight into local culture and community.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a super booky person. Of Mice and Men in GCSE English made sure of that.
There are some good ones, though. Like The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Classic.
I think I've read the final Harry Potter book like 8 times.
Bonus points if you've ever read Darren Shan's Cirque Du Freak saga as well. Not even that good but it had me hooked.

My taste in music goes in what seems like year long ebbs and flows.
I like music mainly from the 70s/80s/90s
Currently I cannot stop listening to The Smiths, Pulp, The Cure etc
But my two favourite bands are Dire Straits and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Hip hop, reggae, rock, metal, house, dnb - all have resonance with me.
Notice the omission of RnB? Yeah it was intentional.

My favourite movie is Requiem For A Dream. No I'm not miserable.
(I love the cinematography, man!)
I reckon I probably know the entirety of Finding Nemo word for word as well. Although it has been a while.
Chalk and cheese, eh? (Some idiomatic English there, just one of the many reasons to CS with me for you non-native speakers!)
If your favourite film is The Shawshank Redemption, kindly press Alt + F4.
There... That should have weeded out about 50% of you.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I peaked at about age 10.

Top marks in Maths SATs. Oh yeah.

No but seriously. I once had to jump from the top of my 6 story building to my balcony, because I got locked outside naked... More on that when we host one another. It is a great story.

OOH! Wow it's not until someone asks you for one amazing thing you've done that you realise how amazing you really are!

I got into Glastonbury Festival for free. Hustler.

I was born in Perth, WA, to the sound of kookaburras. I then came back to Milton Keynes at the age of 6 months. Bastard parents, right?

I once touched the bum of David Miliband (then) MP. I think I must be famous now.

Teach, Learn, Share

What am I even meant to write here? Maybe an interesting fact?

60.2 billion cups of tea are consumed in Britain each year. Yes with milk. No not with lemon, you heathens.

Countries I’ve Visited
