About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Eat Good Food. Sleep in new places.

ABOUT ME

I am a very open person, willing to give any stranger a good conversation. I am adventurous and outdoorsy, and I especially love to explore and investigate new parts of the world. I can sometimes be a little more quiet and meditative, and sometimes I can be wacky and outgoing, but it all just depends on how the moment hits me. I have few needs and could live on a dime--hardy like a mule.

PHILOSOPHY

Life's a garden, dig it. Also, try to be nice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like communities. I like most people who also like communities. You know, like the friendly and trustworthy communities that you had when you were a young lad but now it seems that the only community you have are people who seem to be very busy or very bored. I would like to alleviate the world of its burden, the burden of over-sized, boring, busy communities. I believe participating in couchsurfing, hitchiking and friendly cafe/bar conversation are a good way any vagrant/traveller can help contribute to a healthy community. Also, watching The Almighty Op in Koreatown once a month helps.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a Coffee with a man in Auroville, India. Crashed on a couch at Eli's in San Mateo. Hosted a man named Jim in my humble college cottage.

Interests

Gardening. Writing creatively. Camping/backpacking. Swimmming, traveling off the beaten path, farming in new ways. Talking with the older generation. Guerrilla Art and Guerrilla Gardening (not that I've done these things, they're just interests).

Music, Movies, and Books

2001: A Space Odyssey, the movie and the book. Any Kubrick or Polanski. Any Vonnegut, any Arthur C. Clarke, most Russian writers, like Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy. Shakespeare, some Orwell. There's more, I assure you.
Music: I like some of most genres, especially grunge, folk, classic rock, bluesy stuff and bluegrass, some old-school hip-hop and rap. Can I hear a hoot for Sonic Youth? Gotta have that Cash.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing to the summit of 21,000 ft. Cotopaxi in Ecuador.
Riding a rented bike down a windy road in the dark from a mountaintop on the other side of a lake near Pokhara, Nepal. 24 bus from the Nepal border to New Delhi, then another 6 hour bus to Dehradun directly afterword. Camping on Cheticamp Island, seaside, in Nova Scotia. (Sorry, I realize that is more than one).

Teach, Learn, Share

Like you might have realized, I am pretty good at gardening. I love cooking and baking and I feel like my imaginative nature in those fields help me make some great things. The real knowledge that I have to share comes out from my woodsiness. I love going out to the woods, camping, and fire-making. To sum it up, I have some agricultural, culinary, and outdoors-man knowledge. I am trying to become a good mushroom hunter and amateur wild foods gatherer. I think most of all, I am a swell writer.
