Overview
About Me
Hello, my name is Jon! I grew up in the Lansing area in Michigan my entire life. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2015 and will be starting medical school in August 2017! Before I start medical school, I am trying to travel as much as I can before I start medical school, and meet people from around the world. I have mostly traveled in Latin American countries, but I have always held an affinity for exploring the outdoors anywhere I am in the world.
I grew up playing soccer and I still love to play and watch soccer when I can. I love to eat, drink coffee, listen to music, go hiking/camping, or any activity that involves the outdoors. Quite easily my favorite part about traveling is getting to meet new people from around the world, and learn about their backgrounds and perspectives, but also, I just enjoy to relax and hang out. Overall, I would say I am a very open and easy going individual, but always up for an adventure.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, to be honest, one of the main reasons I am on Couchsurfing is because I am poor (medical school is expensive...) However, I do like how Couchsurfing promotes a community of members from around the world. I love to meet new people from all over the world, and Couchsurfing is the perfect way to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite music: Mostly alternative/indie (The head and the heart, brand new, of monsters and men, twenty one pilots, the lumineers, alt-J, Portugal. The man, alabama shakes, ect.) Some rap (Kendrick Lamar, kid cudi, drake). Various electronic artists as well. Anything singer/songwriter.
Favorite movies: Saving Private Ryan, Taratino films, Lord of the Rings series, Bourne series, Whiplash. Mostly anything on the action/adventure side.
Books: Not the biggest reader out there. But, Harry Potter of course.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bridge jumping in Ecuador? Guess that is somewhat amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really would like to learn how to be a better cook, especially foods related to a healthier lifestyle. Really though, I am willing to share whatever life experiences are asked of me. I am an open book.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have lived with various host families in Central/South America, and from that, I learned that when you live in another persons home, it is more than just sleeping under their roof. Rather, you become a part of their family. That means you help anyone in need and respect the lifestyle/preferences of the family, no matter what. I do my dishes, I clean up after myself, I respect others privacy, and am always willing to lend a helping hand--even if I am only going to stay for one night.
