About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn something about the world, be it from visitors or from traveling.

ABOUT ME

Jon is cool, except when he's not. Jon does not often refer to himself in the third person. Jon has two room mates who are also on couch surfing (which are among his friends below: Grant McDougald and Philip Yango, check them out they're way too cool). Jon has nothing more to say.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is in the works. I don't mean to sound lame here, I've done a lot of thinking and reading on the subject and so far have come back to the simple idea of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I exist.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most people I've met through couch surfing are very enthusiastic about life, very open minded, and always nice. I like them all, and they all like me. So far my experience with couch surfing has kept my faith in humanity at a reasonably positive level.

Music, Movies, and Books

My personal repertoire of movies music and books is also in the works. By the time I finish a book I've been meaning to read, three more enter my list. I actually enjoyed Moby Dick despite what people say about it; Ayn Rand is a brilliant storyteller, though I think people seem to miss that aspect of her books; and I couldn't put down Ender's game once I had picked it up. As for movies and music, I devour them as they come. I can enjoy a fine film like Children of Men, Adaptation, The Fall, or more recently Castaway on the Moon. I'm more passive with music: punk, jazz, folk, and some techno (though the word techno has seemingly been abandoned), especially any hybrids of the listed genres. Examples? Ok: The Books, Streetlight Manifesto, Fleet Foxes, Leftöver Crack, and I must admit, Handsome Boy Modeling School has some charming music about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a front-flip and landed... On, My, Feet! I never could do it again.

Teach, Learn, Share

Be nice. Be Yourself. If the two are contradictory, find a hostel.
