Overview
About Me
I want to experience the whole world and make it a better place in the process.
I'm optimistic, open minded and have a very broad interest.
I love to travel, I hate being a tourist. I like to be a 'cultural explorer': be with the locals and do what they do. A cultural holiday isn't about visiting famous buildings and making the same pictures that you find when you google that country. It's about the living culture: the people that live there, the activities they do, the food they eat and the stories they tell.
My philosophy: If you don't like somebody's culture, you probably just don't understand it yet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Real cultural experiences
Interests
Exploring new things, adventures (of any kind), traveling (to and from any place), cultures (of all sorts), science (and actually doing it), sports (that make you tired and/or excited), the creative type of photography, the local kind of food (wherever I am), the broadest range of music, and all other interesting things.

Music, Movies, and Books
Plenty and any! However, I only read books if you can learn from them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travel. Specifically:
When traveling in Vietnam with my girlfriend, we forced ourselves to be 100% community-based there. It was very difficult to arrange at first (it was before my time on couchsurfing), but we were successful: no hotels, no foreign tour operators; just locals! Talking, walking, eating, drinking and staying with and among locals. The experiences we had there were really unique and amazing!
I've also lived and worked abroad when I did an exchange to Egypt with AIESEC (international student organisation). This is one of the best ways to get to know a culture: actively participating in it. My house mates were literally from every continent; my colleagues were all Egyptians. The view you'll get of a country then is very different from being a tourist, but so much more true and so much deeper.
