About Me

I'm an easy going guy with an endless supply of optimism and a thirst for exploring. I've done a few big trips over the past few years, the last being in 2016 when I returned from 17 months travelling around South-East Asia and Australia by bicycle and hitch-hiking; and a further two months in Poland getting to know the culture and doing a mix of volunteering and travelling. Now I'm doing shorter trips, like a few weeks cycle touring round Morocco.

Right now I'm back in glorious Gloucestershire, getting to know the place again, going on some local adventures and always plotting my next trip. Unfortunately I can't host at the moment as I have a flatmate and there's no room.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I was travelling in Asia I used Warm Showers - couch surfing for touring cyclists - and had some incredible experiences meeting people through that.

I haven't used Couch Surfing much to stay, but have attended CS meet-ups in New York, Poznań, Łódź and in my home town. Along the way I've met some great like-minded people and had a lot of fun. I've also used Hangouts a few times - so many awesome people out there, and so little time...

I now have my own place and I can start hosting, and paying back the hospitality I received on my trips.

Interests

I love music - doesn't matter too much what it is - if you can sing along or dance to it then I'll give it a try. I've been learning the guitar for the past ten years, and although I don't seem to be getting any better I enjoy it.

I enjoy exploring new cities, walking down old alleyways and seeking out spots that are off the main tourist paths. I prefer cycling to taking the bus, camping to staying in a hotel, and eating cheap street food rather than swanky restaurants.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll read, watch and listen to almost anything, and chances are I'll always find something of interest to take from it, the most important thing is it has some soul. I love music festivals and pack a few in each summer. This year even Glastonbury is on the cards!

I really appreciate getting recommendations for music, books and films from people I meet. So, what do you love?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won first prize for 'Best Carved Face in a Potato' at the Winchcombe Village Show. Mine was the only entry in the category...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some basic guitar and a few tunes on the Ukelele. I'm a qualified English Teacher, so if you want to get serious and improve your English I am happy to help :-)
