About Me
PLEASE READ "MY HOME" BEFORE REQUESTING TO STAY WITH US :)
Hi, we're Jon & Sophie, we're 34/33 and we've been married since walking down the aisle in a little white chapel in Las Vegas in 2012 :)
We're relaxed people who prefer a night in with friends and a good boardgame rather than going out, but we won't say no to a good pub quiz.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have previously hosted in Southampton & Manchester and have surfed with so many awesome people during our travels :) Some highlights of our amazing couchsurfing experiences:
-Getting married in Las Vegas, USA, and all our guests were hosts we had previously surfed with.
-White-water rafting with a US Marine in Wyoming, USA.
-Learning how to make S'mores in Montana, USA.
-Spending a Bavarian Christmas with German hosts in 100 degree heat in Adelaide, Australia.
-Feeding wild Cockatoos in Melbourne, Australia.
-Discovering green-goddess dip while playing board games in a pub in Seattle, USA.
-Hosting and attending many amazing games nights in Adelaide, Australia.
-Introducing our American hosts to fish n chips, cream tea and crumpets when they surfed with us in the UK.
-Building a snow-woman in Queenstown, New Zealand.
-Sampling real street food in Singapore.
Interests
Jon - Film-making: I have a few YouTube channels for my movie mashups and travel videos :) I love watching and making movies, reading and playing games (card, board, internet, xbox - whichever).
Sophie - Art, design, making things (origami, knitting, sewing, crochet), literature and languages.
Music, Movies, and Books
Jon - Film: Kingsman, Kick Ass, From Dusk Till Dawn, the Mariachi trilogy, Hook, The Hangover, Avengers Assemble, Forrest Gump, Inception, Rat Race, Ace Ventura, Liar Liar. Music: I mainly like modern country music but also movie soundtracks and scores, rock, pop, metal, acoustic.... And at the moment I am reading "A Short History of the USA"
Sophie - Fantasy books, mainly Wheel Of Time and Robin Hobb but also classics too. I don't really like films but can usually get through Romcoms and Christmas films... For music it's anything that isn't "Whiny Women"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Getting married in Las Vegas and sharing it with our guests that we met while surfing. Hash House a Go Go is the BEST breakfast in Vegas!
Teach, Learn, Share
Jon - I have taught singing, acting and guitar at university.
Sophie - I can teach you how to knit or crochet. I will also try to persuade you to visit my home town, Winchester.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can potentially cook you our signature dish (which many of our previous hosts have enjoyed, so they say). Sophie can teach you A LOT about watches and how they work and we're both good with pets and children. I'm sure we'll bring one of our travel games to play with you too.
