About Me
ABOUT ME :
Heyo it’s me Jonas, I am 24 years old (if this is up to date) and after finishing highschool I left home to the discover what is happening outside of my beautiful country and outside of my comfort zone.
I finished my travels (for now) and moved to Freiburg. I just started my studies in environmental science and I try to master all the challenges that come along with it, especially managing time, there are too many things I want to do 🥲
Other than that I would say that I am open minded (like all travellers claim to be haha), curious, spontaneous and I try to see the positive things in life.
IMPORTANT
I like to make sure that I have a good feeling for my guests and also that my guests have a good feeling about me. For that a minimal amount of reading is required.
I know that my profile is very long and that you probably don't have much time to read, I know the struggle of finding a host very well.
Although I appreciate people actually taking the time and give me a reason to host them. I accept copy and paste messages but please read the "my home" section (press "read more" to access it) and please include my name in your request :)
CURRENT MISSION :
1. Living in the moment 🌀
mastering the challenges and living the beautiful and ugly moments and hopefully having a positive impact on people and on the world while doing so.
2. Seeking Discomfort ⚡
I believe that we can only grow by leaving our comfort zone. Therefore I conciously try to do things that I am afraid of, things that make me feel uncomfortable, insecure - seeking discomfort.
That includes trying as many new things as possible. Let it be food, sports, languages, singing, acting, dancing, whatever.
Unfortunately I do not always remember this because the human body and brain has evolved to avoid discomfort. So if I forget and I say "no" to something you propose me, you are very welcome to push me 😉
3. Carbon footprint 👣
I am on my journey to reduce my carbon footprint, not wasting energy or water and avoiding plastic. My hosts but also other people I met made me even more concious about this topic and showed me that it is not as hard and not as expensive as I thought 🥦
4. Finding my purpose 🌍
in this beautiful and ugly world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After downloading Couchsurfing as a free place to stay (at first) I realized that it is so much more. I love meeting these interesting, kind and generous people. Every time it is so different but so amazing 🤩 They have already helped me so much not only by offering me a place to stay but also by giving me advise, by reaching out to their friends so that I have another save place to stay or just by having a nice conversation with me and listening and respecting what I said.
Now my time has finally come to give back to the community and host people myself.
Interests
🚵♂️🚣♂️🌲I do a lot of sports and I espacially love outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, surfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, climbing, etc. Even though I might not be good at it, like swimming (I know how to swim but not fast (enough)) but I am really interested and I want to learn and practice which accounts for too many things.
♟️It has been some time that I played but I also like chess
🏕️I love wildcamping in my tent or preferably in my hammock. It's just so enjoyable to be out in nature all day and all night long.
Let it be cold, let it be warm, let it be windy, rainy, foggy or sunny, some situations are more uncomfortable than others but that's life.
👨🏼🍳 Since uni started I didn't have much time for it but I really love and enjoy cooking and of course eating as well as sharing it. Trying new things, foods, tastes and smells is one of my favorite things in life.
🙋🏼♂️When I am at home I meet with friends a lot, we do sports together, we go out (I am really grateful for the friends I have now 🙌) I am a member of a uni organisation that I try to engage in as much as possible as well as in a climate activist group.

Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning from others, their lifes, their stories and their mistakes, about ideas, possibilities and ways of living that I did not know about before.
I can share some bike fixing skills and if we have the tools I can also help you fix yours. I can give you some advice if you want to travel by bicycle yourself or teach you my beautiful mothertongue German or French as well as giving you an introduction in German culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A dinner, I am good cook, I have heard
A nice conversation, I am a good listener, I have heard
Maybe some guitar playing. I am a bit shy about it but if you read the first part you know what to do haha.
Thank you for reading all of this, have you read the section of "read more"? It is important :)
