About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience as much as possible. Meeting new people seems to help with that.

ABOUT ME

Tough thing to do... I studied to become a teacher in English and Dutch, but found out I really just want to work with wood. I want to do so much, but I tend to doubt more than act. So I guess I need to be a little bit more impulsive, which couchsurfing could help with! If you have any questions about me, please just ask. I like to believe I'm a very open person and willing to listen.

PHILOSOPHY

Best is to live each day as if it was your last one, or even better, as if it's always the first.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2011 I made a CS account and found someone in Copenhagen willing to host. She was great and made me love the idea and philosophy of couchsurfing. I recently hosted a couple for the first time and it was a great experience. I prefer to be social with my guests/hosts. Privacy is important, but it's a great plus for me if we can just talk like friends about travels, culture and life.

We used to live in Ghent and we've hosted some people there, but from 22 August 2018 my girlfriend Herlinde and I are traveling to Kuala Lumpur, New Zealand and Australia. It could take us a while.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Went on my first couchsurfing experience in July 2011, to Moen in Denmark. A great experience which made me realise that I should do it more often! Hosted for the first time in August 2017, another great experience with wonderful people. I hope to find some hosts in New Zealand and Australia. Once we're back I'd really like to return the favor for other surfers.

Interests

I love to stay active, but don't really stick to one specific type of sport. I love to snowboard and surf, but can't say I'm really good at it. At least I have fun while trying, right?

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Massive Attack, Depeche Mode, Bloc Party, Bon Iver, Gorillaz, dEUS, Tom Waits, fleetwood mac, 2many djs... I like a lot of music.

We could talk for hours about our favourite music, movies and books. Why summarize it in a small box?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Befriended a Kea on the Kepler Track in New-Zealand

- I ran 16km (10 miles) in Antwerp in the summer of 2017.

- Show you around in Ghent;

What I Can Share with Hosts

- A long walk through the city centre, showing you some famous places and even some local quiet ones;
- An inflatable matress for two;
- Breakfast;
- A conversation.
