About Me
Hi, I'm Jonathan!
I grew up at the coast of the baltic sea. It will always stay my favorite, but there are many more seas to explore. That's why I'm here.
So what keeps me going through this world? I really enjoy taking pictures, I found it to be my way of perceiving (is that the right word? like in 'getting to know') my surroundings, my people, myself. I'm doing this mostly on film, sometimes with pixels. Because I can only take pictures of my ceiling every so often before it get's boring, I had to leave my bed a lot (like, a lot!). This led to the most fabulous things. Here's a quick overview:
- I learned all kinds of stuff! I can drive all kinds of things, I can also help sailing ships, I can build a fence to keep deers out or cows in, I can intentionally not get lost when walking through a big city, I can develop black and white film negatives, I can make people not feel sad anymore, I can tell a computer to get me satellite images (that ones pretty specific, that's because I had to include my field of study), I can read a book and then tell you what I think of it. I can remember the most unuseful things.
- I also didn't learn a lot of stuff: I am definitely not a mechanic. I know a couple things about my bicycle, but that's it. I'm also not a chemist. I can tell you how to take and how to develop pictures in film but I can't tell you how any of that works (except the part with the light and physics and stuff, I know that). I can't write a profile for myself that I'm satisfied with. That's why this here has more of a concept study than a proper representation.
- I met a lot of people: people I didn't like at all. complete strangers that touched my life in a way I still don't understand today. My dearest friends. A lot of people I had a good laugh with. A lot of people I absolutely got along with. A lot of people I learned awesome stuff from. A couple people I could teach something. People I had too much beer with. People I had too much food with (also people I had the exact right amount of food with). People that inspired me. People I took pictures of. People I just helped doing stuff. People that helped me doing stuff, or thinking stuff. People I walked with. People I travelled with. People that drove me places. People I worked for.
- I also didn't meet enough people yet. That one's obvious I believe.
I'm always up for crazy ideas, always up for lazy ideas. from urban exploration to hiking to dancing all night to weeks of camping to watching all marvel superhero movies in one night. Surprise me.
keywords: food, politics, foodpolitics, destroy capitalism, go for adventures, you know, that kind of stuff.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was here before I could grow tired of being part of a faceless non-sense way of getting outside and travelling hundreds of kilometres to stay somewhere where only spoken to when paying people to do so.
Sometime soon I wanna host people at my place.
Interests
Photography:
I love taking portraits. If I'm not doing that, I might be outside shooting some sweet landscapes. A while ago I picked up shooting film. Haven't stopped since.
Hiking, if there are nice things to capture.
Sports (I like outdoor sports just as much as indoor sports. In my free time, I do a little bit of fighting arts)
Music (drum'n'bass, electronic, hiphop, generally everything that someone put some thought and feel into)
adventures (favourite places, hated places, hidden places, cozy places, absolutely awful places, unexplored places, places with a story, places you can drink beer at)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Making myself something to eat. Honestly that's sometimes the hardest thing to do.
Teach, Learn, Share
If you wanna learn about photography, I can defo set you up with the basics.
I'm genuinely interested in ways of life. How do you, like, 'do' your existence? Why are you doing what you're doing? What do you think when you get out of bed?
What I Can Share with Hosts
Full of facts, stories, experiences, impressions, memories.
Long talks or quiet walks, a night out or a rainy day spent in front of the TV.
Also I helped more people move while travelling than at home.
Getting a new couch? Moving to another place? Throwing some stuff out? Let me know, I'm your man.
