About Me

Hey there! I'm a fun loving, friendly Canadian, travelling the world and doing my best to live up to our good reputation. Even though I like ice hockey I still have all my teeth, (I just play with friends). Maple syrup is delicious, apparently I do kind of say "aboot" (although only a few people really hear it), I love my Tim Hortons, and have no problem walking for a few minutes in 0° C weather. I have actually counted the number of times my friends have apologized to each other in one hour and it was astounding.

I'm living in Germany until the end of April, working as a Planning Engineering Intern at Bosch. I'm a work hard - play hard kind of guy so even though studying engineering is hard, I know how to have a good time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As mentioned above, I'm living in Germany until the end of April and am doing my best to visit as much of Europe as I can before I have to go home. I'm very friendly, love meeting new people, and really enjoy exploring so Couchsurfing seems like the ideal place to be. I'm not opposed to bringing some German beer with me as a gift if I can! (Although sometimes I am only allowed carry on for the flight and I can't bring any.)

Interests

Cooking - I love to make delicious food almost as much as I like eating it

Travelling - I really caught the travel bug this term and have been somewhere different in Europe every weekend since I've been here. Skiing in Austria, skiing in Switzerland, exploring the historic cities of Paris, Berlin, Nuremberg and Prague, brewery tours in Bamberg and Bayreuth, Amsterdam. It really has been great so far!

Exercise - I accidentally ran the 20 km home from work the other day (I thought it was just 10 but it was a nice scenic view so I wasn't too mad). Going on a 9 hour hike and then hitting the club at night is no problem. As long as it's not too rainy, I'm good to go!

Mixing drinks - One of the houses I rented at had a bar just sitting in the basement. I tried my hand at that and really had a great time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not really sure how I've watched so much TV but some of my favourites right now are Brooklyn Nine Nine, Game of Thrones (both books and show), Fresh off the Boat... Writing this list is hard, there are a lot of them if that's something you want to talk about.

When I was younger I read a ton of books. The Bartimaeus Trilogy, The Inheritance Cycle aka the Eragon books, Harry Potter, Wheel of Time, the list goes on. I recently bought one of the Goosebumpls books by R.L.Stein in German to help me learn haha

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's hard to narrow this down... Some of the things I've done at my internships have been pretty cool (this is my fourth internship).

This whole Europe trip on the weekends thing has been my favourite thing so far though.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know if it's really my place to teach anyone anything right now. I'm still learning a lot but if there's anything you want to know and think I can help you out, feel free to ask!

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Potentially some German beer (depends on if I get to bring luggage on the plane if I'm flying)

- Insights into the world from a Canadian perspective

- Excellent English, good at reading French, very limited German

- Considerate and friendly
