About Me

I am a 27 year old Cuban male living in Miami, Florida. I currently hold a job as manager at a restaurant called Red Cow that is with the Be Nice Restaurant Group. I have been with the company for over 8 years. I have decided that the year 2016 was going to be a travel year for me and I wanted to embark on a year long journey throughout Europe and Asia. Attempting to achieve the goal of over 30 countries in a year, as my business partner, Humberto B. Cruz and my self start up a Travel Photography/Blog called Can You Wander.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I wont be hosting, I will be making a trek from Europe to Asia and back in a year. I have come to understand that finding housing may be very costly in many places and I am looking to maximize my time and money for the trip. Couchsurfing could significantly help on budgeting for the trip so that I am able to travel to more countries. Also, Couchsurfing can in turn inject me directly into the culture(albeit food, art, people etc.), as I get to stay with locals. This would further help us understand the culture in the country of the moment and help us portray the vast differences from my own on our blog.

Interests

Not going to say I'm artsy fartsy, but I do enjoy art. Other interest that are at the top of the list are:
Photography, ranging from different styles to nature, artistic, and even event photography.
Nature is one of my greatest loves in my life and I am also an animal lover and I don't discriminate, I love all animals.
Movies and TV shows are a huge part of my life, due to the sheer imagination and places they can take you.
Sports have always been a huge part of my life. As of late, Soccer has been a favorite. A dream of attending games throughout Europe is one I am hoping to achieve.
Architecture- With Destinations like Italy, Germany, Japan, Egypt and Angkor Wat, I am extremely intrigued with ancient and modern architecture.
Food- No dish is taboo. I will try almost everything. Cultures have been making dishes differently for thousands of years. I have a very open palate.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Some of my personal favorites range from different genres. Folk being a recent trend, Mumford and Sons being a favorite, as well classic rock legends Led Zepplin. Hip-Hop, coming from South Florida is instilled in my heart. I like artist ranging from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Jay-Z. Soul and R&B artist John Legend being an all time favorite.

Movies/ TV Shows: The Prestige, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, District 9, Inception........and so many more. Too many to list.

Books: The Road, Game of Thrones(Saga), The Alchemist- I tend to enjoy more Sci-Fi related books. They take me out of my reality and place me in their world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As of yet, the most amazing thing that I have done and that has pretty much paved way for this trip, was going to Volcano Arenal in Costa Rica. It was probably the most breathtaking thing I have ever seen, which then fueled the fire for me to see more and leave on this once in a lifetime journey.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I have a great understanding on how the food industry works. Being a amateur chef at one point in my life, as well as a restaurant manager, I'd like to believe that i know food pretty well. I am always willing to teach the different methods of cooking.

Learn: Cultural differences. I have always been entranced by cultures foreign to mine. I want to learn their customs, history and way of life. I always open to learn anything.

Share: I would love to share my experiences with anyone I meet. As well as exchanged different philosophies on live, love and happiness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Anything that is within my ability to share with my host, I will. They are welcoming me into their home, which isn't easy for many people, being their personal space.. So I will be beyond grateful and more than willing to share anything I have, albeit experience, work or personal belongings that is within my power.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico
