I like to exercise: cycling, running and hiking. I enjoy challenges and learning new things, being keen on philosophy and spirituality. I like sports and I would love to experience canoeing on a river. I am currently learning Spanish. I want to learn to face my fears and grow as a person. I currently work as a library assistant in a college. I love books and people who are keen to learn and I have also worked as a teacher of English in the recent past.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking for new experiences travelling around South America in the coming years, and the areas of Thailand and India. I spent 5 months last year in Tunja, Colombia teaching English and I want to get out there again to enjoy more good experiences.

South America stands out to me for a number of reasons. The more joyous attitude to life, the warm-hearted people, the lovely unspoiled mountainous landscapes, nature and rivers. The possibilities for learning Spanish and a different cultural approach to life and perspective on life. I am also interested in the religious native origins of the shamanic culture and trying to learn something from these practices and possibly have some life changing spiritual experiences of my own.

Thailand and India interest me because of the religious and spiritual aspects of these cultures. I have followed some buddhist and taoist ideas and other eastern spiritual principles and this would be an opportunity to experience the real thing and learn from it at the source.

In all these cases a couchsurfing approach or volunteering approach that I am also looking into would give me a full immersion in the lifestyle and be more than just a touristy style thing that has never appealed to me. I want to live it, and learn to be in among it, not just to observe it.
