About Me

Born and raised around Houston, Texas. I'm not sure what all to put here, so I guess I'll put the following. Graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Worked as a project engineer for a while, but eventually journeyed over to being a financial advisor. I like to do a variety of things including reading, watching movies, playing sports, climbing, playing games, having good conversations, learning in general and about other cultures and people's perspectives, and generally being active. I genuinely like helping people and problem solving, but I recognize that at times I can't or shouldn't. I'd like to remain a financial advisor, while hopefully having more than one other entrepreneurial pursuits. Hopefully that's enough about me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a variety of music, but mostly rock and electronic. A couple of favorite songs are Be Yourself by Audioslave and Dancing in the Moonlight by Jubel/NEIMY.

I like most any genre of movie except for horror and only the occasional overly dramatic or romantic movie. I prefer thrillers that make you think and actually surprise you, comedies, action, based on true stories, and inspiring. It's always hard to pic k a favorite , but some I enjoy are Surf's Up. Finding Forrester, Christopher Robin, Memento, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

I love reading. I'm a sucker for a good story, but when I read fiction it's mostly science fiction. Some of my favorite series are Red Rising, Ender's Game, and Ender's Shadow. I also enjoy learning and expanding my mind with good nonfiction as well. A couple I read or am in the process of reading (at the time this is being typed) are Better Together by Simon Sinek and Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Lief Babin.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

If I have to pick just one, I'll go with working at a camp called Camp For All. It was an a truly amazing experience filled with amazing people and memories. While I did and greatly enjoyed doing a great variety of things there, one of my favorites was helping people overcome there fears on the ropes courses and learn that they are capable of more than what they previously believed.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about and how to do a variety of things. To give an idea of the range I'll list a few things that I've picked up along the journey of life: juggling, some riddles and jokes, a few card tricks, and parkour.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully, I can share some good conversations. But I like to think that I'm good at being flexible and meeting people where they're at. So if that means not much conversation, that's okay too. I can also share an attitude of gratitude with their generosity and and in general with life.
