About Me

An easy-going yet contemplative personality; I'd describe myself as introverted but comfortable being more extroverted depending on the situation. I'm always looking to explore and experience new things, which matches well with my generally analytical and observational nature. I love learning and there's no better source to learn from than new people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Primarily looking for a different experience when it comes to traveling and especially meeting people! Hotels are expensive and hostels are great for meeting fellow travelers but I want to see how the locals live. Even if it's not super different than what I'm used to, there's going to be some new stories to tell for sure!

Interests

Exploring new environments; understanding the world around me; meeting new people; traveling more and more; history (soft spot for Roman and Byzantine, but I appreciate it no matter where I am); sports (soccer, ultimate, hockey + many more), working out; trying out foreign cuisines; new technologies (virtual reality, video games etc); modern cities and cultures; society, politics, and world trends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've got a very broad range of music that I listen to. I played piano and saxophone growing up so classical music has always been a big part of my life. Rest of my music leans to alt-rock/pop (Coldplay, Muse, U2, 30 Seconds to Mars, Angels & Airwaves) & darker EDM (melodic Prog House, chill-step, some dubstep), or any bands with really talented drummers.

My favorite movies & books generally lean towards sci-fi, more because I enjoy exploring the different worlds the artists create for the viewer. Sci-fi movie wise, really liked Interstellar, Gravity, 2001:Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Contact, Minority Report, Star Wars (not really sci-fi, but still love it) plus many more. Book-wise, I would place sci-fi classics like Starship Troopers and The Forever War as among my favorite as well as harder science books by Michael Crichton. Otherwise, I enjoy non-fiction about history, world politics, and the social impact of new technologies, so a bit of everything is always on my book list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Relax in a pristine hot springs in the middle of the British Columbian winter, 10 hours from the nearest town - one of the most zen-like places I've ever been to.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can teach a bit about:

- websites and how people are tracked around the web
- data privacy and how organizations are using it today
- canadian culture and politics
- the 4th spatial dimension and what it would be like to live in 4D (inspired by Interstellar)
- trivia when it comes to Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, or many other sci-fi/fantasy series
- sharing my own experiences/stories in exchange for a few of yours!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lively conversation, a few interesting stories, dry humor, and any piece of where I happen to live that you might want me to bring with me!
