2017-2018 marks my second gap year. I have decided, much to the dismay of my parents, to hold university off for yet another year in order to travel throughout East Asia. I spent my first year off working as a piano teacher and accompanist for a local middle school. I also climb competitively, produce music and am an avid learner of just about anything. I would say my dream job would be a professional dilettante.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to couchsurf! I've discovered throughout my travels that mere sightseeing only allows one to scratch the surface of a country, culture, and local experience. Past family trips spent lining up and gazing mindlessly out out numerous phallic sky towers has always left me craving a more culturally enriching experience. Fortunately, Couchsurfing is absolutely perfect for this! I believe through my hosts I can learn a huge deal about the local history, culture, language and insider knowledge. My appetite to learn is insatiable, and ever since meeting my first host Couchsurfing has become a necessary part of travel!

I'm embarrassed to admit, but I have only begun reading since finishing high school! It's probably one of my biggest regrets, avoiding books while growing up. It's only within the last year that I've found much comfort in reading and relating to the adventures of Richard Feynman, learning about life optimization through the many recommendations of Tim Ferriss (Influence -Robert Cialdini, So Good They Can't Ignore You -Cal Newport). I even enjoy reading through textbooks including ones on languages, cognitive science, and Neuroscience! (Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain / Edition 4)
