ABOUT ME

For the last 2.5 I worked in Beijing as a freelance multimedia journalist and lecturer of American Studies and English at Tsinghua University. My work has been featured in The New York Times, CNN, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Atlantic, The South China Morning Post, The National Interest, The Beijing Review, and Time Out Bhutan. Now in Hong Kong working on some freelance projects and trying desperately to drop the "freelance" part of my title and do journalism full-time

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing, but I have been traveling and hosting and staying with strangers whenever I can. Once I settle myself in either Hong Kong or New York City, I look forward to opening up my apartment to the couchsurfing community and returning the favor. After all, a stranger is just a friend you've never met

Music, Movies, and Books

Fav movie is Amadeus. I mostly listen to classical. Anyone I stay with can have any or all of my 70 Gig Classical library. Generally stick to non-fiction. Just finished reading "Team of Rivals"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled in Asia for the last two years for work and vacation. Have spent considerable time in China, Nepal, Bhutan, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. Have also done Eastern Europe, Israel and South Africa

Teach, Learn, Share

As a journalist, I am a sucker for interesting people. I am always looking to meet people, maybe even write about them. Anyway who has an interesting story to tell will find me a ready listener.
