About Me

I'm a well read and educated person. I took time out after a 20-year working career to move to the Canary Islands and try a different type of life for a time being self-employed. I'm very sociable and enjoy keeping fit using the paleo caveman training system developed here in the Canaries and I also like to do a little Latin dancing like Salsa Bachata and Kizomba. I like to spend time outdoors although I am just as happy reading a good book and going to the cinema ( I love movies, it may actually be an addiction, I used to volunteer my time at film festivals just to walk the red carpet )I'm a fluent English speaker and am well travelled, having backpacked around a huge part of the planet. I have travelled extensively in all seven of the Canary Islands and have a great love for them. I know Lanzarote very well and am very willing to advise you how to go about seeing it,

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel and meeting new and interesting people locally and am happy to host like-minded souls. I have travelled over the world and while I normally tend to stay in a nice hostel but sometimes it is nice to stay with somebody that lives there getting to see a place as a real insider. I like the idea of offering this insight to other people myself. I'm a fluent English speaker and have some Spanish. I have traveled extensively in all seven of the Canary Islands and have a great love for them. I know Lanzarote very well and am very willing to advise you how to go about seeing it, particularly the less touristy places and experiences away from the seafront resorts. It is a Unesco biosphere reserve. It has extraordinary geology, 300 volcanic cones while at the same time hitting all the good time boxes. There are great beaches, beautiful towns, wine country, top class surf, kite and windsurf spots, great cycling and trekking country along with interesting museums and the incredible sights of Cesar Manrique who combined art and natural landscape to create spaces and places both stunning and unique all over the Island. I'm looking forward to meeting you and hope I can assist you in seeing the Island in as authentic a manner as possible and can provide advice on the best way to do so at the best value for money.
