I love coasts and oceans, and I've spent many years of my life trying to raise awareness of the need for marine protected areas, and also freshwater protected areas. I'm an old guy now, much older than most couch surfers, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching the moon rise over an open ocean, thousands of kilometers from the nearest land. Or seeing dolphins just below the bow of my boat, turning on their sides to look up at me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I spend a lot of time on my yacht, I also need to travel on land, to visit friends, or to see places or sites of special interest to me. I enjoy meeting people, especially those that share my love for nature. It doesn't matter if they are young or old. And I don't have a lot of cash, so travelling on a low budget is important to me.

A lot of the work I did before I retired from science is on the web, at "onlyoneplanet", you won't have too much trouble finding it. And there's also stuff on the web about my boat, "the adventures of ocean child". Look for it and you will find it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music... well, one of my favourite songs is "wired to the moon". Movies... I like a well written romantic comedy, like "moonstruck". Books... there's a lot of wisdom in "the prophet" by Kahil Gibran.
