About Me

Just graduated with my bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Stanford. I know I'm a little older for just a BS, but that is because I did a four year tour in the army serving with 3rd ranger battalion right out of high school. It was quite the adjustment going back into school, but I made it happen. I supported myself in school the whole time working all kinds of jobs such as busser, video game salesman, security guard, etc. I'm a relaxed, easy to get along with, care free guy who is starting to settle down and join the professional world, with some reluctance...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to explore on my motorcycle and venture out a little more on each trip. I took a 17,000 mile road trip this past summer and got a lot of exploring done around the US. Now, I want to go over all the Southwest has to offer in finer detail. I'm fresh out of school (with the usual student debt) and at an entry level position in my new job. I want to continue to explore, but am on a limited budget. Plus, you don't usually get to meet new people very easily when you stay in a motel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm pretty open but my favs are Jack Johnson, Dispatch, Ben Harper, Mason Jennings, and so on.

Books: The King Killer Chronicles, Song of Ice and Fire, LOTR, and a lot of other nerdy stuff, starting Bertrand Russell's History of Western Philosophy to give my reading some depth, finally.

Movies: I really, really like just about every cheesy action movie from the 80s/90s then there's Pan's Labyrinth, Old Boy, LOTR, Classic Bond, Good Will Hunting, and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

White water rafting on the Pacuare River in Costa Rica, that was a blast!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always learning to be more DIY oriented and can teach what I have learned in my repertoire thus far. It's always fun to share stories of past adventures. I love to learn people's unique techniques when it comes to kitchen craft. I've found it fascinating how differently people operate while cooking and enjoy seeing the clever tricks people come up with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've had a pretty broad range of experiences that has shifted my outlook of the world multiple times. I love pleasant discourse on people's views and how they came about them. I'm someone who is extremely respectful with other people's property. I live by the old adage of leaving things better than you found them. I would try to be as non invasive or as involved as they would like me to be. However, I would be more than willing to do chores/odd jobs/clean/cook to help repay the host for their kindness.
