Overview
About Me
I am a (currently) retired college instructor. After teaching digital media for 20+ years, the fact that my degrees are in music (instead of IT) finally ended my teaching career. I am also a freelance graphic and web designer, digital marketing consultant, and professional singer. Aftyer my wife passed of breast cancer in 2023, I founded a disc golf related non-profit named Benefit Discs, as a memorial to Laura. Currently I have discs for her that have visited 18 countries!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am fortunate to have the time and ability to travel a bit while I can, but still have to stay within a budget. I also love meeting new people. A friend of mine encouranged me to consider couchsurfing as a good way to do both! I am pretty quiet and "proper" overall. Not into really big crowds and heavy drinking. Love a good bottle of local wine with the local cheese and a good conversation... but otherwise, not a party-person.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical and choral music, especially English (Anglican) choirs. Opera, musical theater, dance, local (cultural) music. Love all sorts of stories, including movies and books. Used to teach commercial video and filmaking, so certainly more partial to film.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It's hard to say what is amazing. I have hit two "aces" in disc golf in one round. I have been stuck on the top of a mountain in Quito with lighting and freezing rain coming down in sheets. I also sang in the world premiere of the Andrew Lloyd Webber Requiem, in 20+ operas, and have sung with symphonies. Maybe, most importantly, I think I got my cat to actually like me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I taught digital media (digital marketing) for 20+ years. I know a thing or two about the amazing city of Asheville, NC where I live.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a pretty quiet, slightly introverted (but scocial) person. I have travelled a number of times, and am comfortable meeting new people. As for politics (if that matters), I am very much on the liberal side.
Countries I’ve Visited
Belgium, England, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland
