About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience the best human experiences possible.

ABOUT ME

To start, my name is Jonathan but I have been going by Yoni since before I can remember. It's essentially "John" in Hebrew in my case. In preschool my teacher wrote Jonathan on my locker and apparently I refused to listen to her until it was changed. The rest is history.

I grew up in Fort Worth, TX and have been traveling the world since I was a kid. My father is an airline pilot so I've had the opportunity to make friends all over and now it's time for me to explore the US in more detail. I studied Industrial Distribution in the engineering department at Texas A and M University but decided to turn down my job offers. Two weeks of vacation a year would have left me with little to no time to see my family overseas, which didn't sound very appealing. After spending a year helping my family with various things and spent the last several years as a paralegal. I also created a startup but now and in a transitional period after we decided to shut it down.

Being healthy, both mentally and physically, is important to me. That doesn't mean that I don't indulge in some pizza and ice cream every once in a while. I love doing outdoorsy things and will be car-camping, Couchsurfing, and staying with friends around the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have essentially been couch surfing for the past couple years with friends and family, so unfortunately I cannot host anyone yet. However, I will definitely be paying it back in the future when I'm more settled.

WHY I'M ON COUCHSURFING

I've had amazing experiences couchsurfing with friends, and friends of friends, around the world through personal connections. Now it's time to meet more people as I travel around the world when I can. If I'm in an area with nice camping then I will probably just camp when in the US and if the weather is nice.

Music, Movies, and Books

It sounds pretty cliche but I like almost all types of music. Everything from metalcore to country, indie, rock, alternative, electronic, and the sub-genres within each one. Live shows are my favorite.

I'm not afraid to say it: I'm not a big fan of horror movies.

Lately I've been mainly reading books revolving around business, psychology, etc.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe that when someone shares his/her property, it is the borrower's duty to leave it in the same or better condition. I can cook, clean, am fairly handy around the house, and fairly handy with cars.

It's important for me to always make peoples' lives better, especially those that allow me to stay in their homes. In 2014, a good friend of mine hosted me with his then pregnant wife for almost 2 months while I was working in the beginning stages of my startup. By the time I left I was given a key to their home, and this has actually happened a few more times with other friends since then. I have been staying with random people on and off since then who have become some of my closest friends.

I also like to talk about life so sharing and learning new perspectives never hurts.
