Hello!

We are Jon and Desiree and very excited to be starting this journey of traveling and meeting new people together. Creating memories that we can share together for the rest of our lives.

We will be married this upcoming September!! :D After we're married we look forward to hosting couch surfers however, you will not have to sleep on a couch as there is a very sturdy and comfortable bunk bed in a private room. Our apartment is located in the heart of downtown Fargo. We have two kids 50% of the time. For the time being we would only want to host when they're not with us.

Jon loves to tell stories and terrible jokes and has an extensive and well rounded flannel collection. We love to cook, we love food and can show you all the best places. When we are visiting other surfers we look forward to trying a variety of international cuisines. Jon also loves good beer and whiskey and consistently explores new tastes.

We love music. From Opera to country to everything in between. Minus the rap and Miley Cyrus. If we have an opportunity to experience live music when we're out at home we always take it.

We both greatly enjoy a good conversation and learning new languages.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Shortly after meeting we both expressed our love for travel and desire to see the world. Our plan is to save and go on at least one big trip a year to another country. We want to meet the people, neither one of us are fans of tourist traps or tour guides.

To us, one of the best parts of the trip is meeting the people and making new friends while exploring the area and all of the hidden treasures. Couchsurfing brings with it that dynamic. To spend time with people of other cultures and learn and share with one another in a much more intimate setting that if we stayed at a hostel or hotel and met people while out and about.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jon and Des are both big Tolkien lovers. Jon has also read nearly every book C.S. Lewis ever wrote. We love various country artists. The High Kings, The Dubliners, Jonathan Charlotte, Johnny Cash, etc. Jon loves the old Westerns and likes to think he's John Wayne.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We met each other. We have two wonderful kids. One of the most amazing things Des has done is spend a year in Australia as a nanny. Much the same idea of couch surfing except with children and responsibilities.
