Overview
About Me
I am moved by the human experience and how people experience the world around them. Every person has a truth and wisdom to share that is unique to their life. This belief is why I am a social worker and work with at-risk and homeless youth in Alaska. It is also the reason I travel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting people and sharing stories. I prefer to go places where there are less tourists. Or if I am in a touristy place, I like to find local spaces. I travel to learn about other cultures and different perspectives.
Interests
I love the tranquility, and silence of the wilderness. I also love the frenetic pace of cities. I enjoy conversation, deconstructing the world around me. I like to listen to other philosophies and world views and learn the short comings of my assumptions. For me, I believe comfort is a trap. If I am comfortable, I am not learning and growning. Whether I am kayaking or traveling, or having a conversation I always try to find a new piece of wisdom.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read a lot of history and cultural anthropology books. As a former academic, I struggle with reading fiction. But I have a love for Dostoevsky, Neruda, Mario Llosa Vargas, and James Baldwin.
Movies: I watch a lot of documentaries and nature films.
Music: so much amazing music!! If it is done well I will listen to it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Led a 74 day canoe expedition in Northern Canada.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a respectful, quiet conversationalist. Happy to help out with any chores or projects that my host needs help with. I am easy going and just happy to share your space. I don't ask for much and easily adapt to the space that I am in. I am excited to trade language lessons and share what the world has taught me.
